Since the closure of schools from 2020, the mode of imparting education, has taken a new path, everywhere.
This disruption of education caused by Covid-19 has adversely impacted rural India where children are not being able to cope with the normal methods, owing to lack of adequate
digital infrastructural support.
Coupled with this, lack of teachers in most of the Government schools has compelled a "single/two-teacher(s) for Grades 1 to 5" situation wherein it gets challenging to
productively engage the kids for full day.
Several supporting projects like Vidyagama, Samveda (DD-Chandana), Daily news etc from Government of Karnataka has helped the teachers and children to a great extent.
VIDHYADAANAM is trying to support the children make use of these resources by providing E-classroom infrastructure to provide access to them.
E-classrooms are setup using Smart-TVs that are sufficiently sized, based on the student strength and the classroom expanse, bundled with carefully curated videos provided in a USB or sent to the teacher's phone.
These Smart TVs are linked to the teachers' phones, so that the videos or learning content can be streamed from the phone without the mandate for a broadband connection.
Even when the main-stream classes re-start, it can be easily upgraded to support online and interactive classes conducted by volunteers whilst supporting program-based learning.
It can seamlessly integrate with black-board teaching (side-by-side) without the need for extra infrastructure.
Until now, we were able to set up these smart TVs at 6 Government schools, last year (2020), with the help of trusted donors.
As the need for these e-classrooms grow daily, we wish to implement this infrastructure to 25 more schools.
Approximate costing:
Smart TV - Rs. 16,000 (per unit)
Stabilizer - Rs. 1,800 (Per unit)
USB - Rs. 360 (per unit)
Total: Rs. 18,160 (per unit) X 25 schools = Rs. 4,54,000/-
The Genesis:
