Help Us Support Daily Wage Earners and Families

Amidst the Coronavirus lockdown in India, it has adversely affected Lakhs of daily wage earners, servants, construction workers, daily labourers, Rickshaw-pullers, Balloon sellers, and so on, who have no means of income to feed their families for the next few weeks.

Migrated workers were returned back to their hometown and some of them are still stuck somewhere on the way. It would take a massive effort by govt, private agencies, social workers to rehabilitate them.

With the help of local volunteers,  ngos/ self-help groups we are supporting these daily wage laborers and their families by distributing grocery items.

We are running a helpline number for daily wage workers, needy people reach out to us through helpline.

We are helped these blind families in Pune.

We are helping these families residing in labourer camp, Gurgaon with the help of local organization Bachchagiri Foundation.

We are supporting families residing in Gautem Puri Colony of Delhi. Chnadrajeet, a UPSC aspirant who contacted us and took responsibility to deliver groceries.

................and the list goes on.

There are many organization, individual, volunteer group are working with us to fight with this adverse situation.

Dear Kind Donors,

We couldn't give update since long due to heavy workload on ground. We have opened a permanent center in Delhi, it's working as a one stop solution for all the segments. Below are the brief updates:
  1. Groceries/ relief kits distribution drives are continued as usual.
  2. During Diwali we has trained a single mother (who lost her job affected by pandemic) & many other girls from nearby slum for candle making work. After completion of training we provided them with raw materials and candle moulds, their handmade candles were sold across the country, we got wonderful response, review & feedback that made our initiative successful. We could create means of survival for all of these affected families. We hope this year more lives can be trained, supported and made self-sufficient.
  3. We are giving Skill & IT training to children of these migrant workers to make them employable and industry-ready. Currently we are accommodating only 20 youth at our one center. We can replicate this program & center with your support to  save thousands of children getting into child labour or unskilled work. Keep supporting- https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-yef-india
  4. People We have distributed 300 blankets so far, aiming to distribute 1000 blankets to the homeless lying outside the roads.
  5. We have engaged our volunteers in one-to-one counseling of children of the migrant workers. We visit their colonies/ slums to conduct awareness sessions/ counseling/ book & stationary distribution drives/ online/offline classes and to make sure that no one drops studies because of their parents are unemployed. Our founder himself was a child-labour he knows the pain when a meritorious/ hardworking child drops studies caused by financial condition.  We are committed to save 10,000 children from child-labour.
  6. As we all are aware of menstrual hygiene practices being used by deprived women. To protect their lives & dignity we are conducting menstrual awareness sessions and distributing hygiene kits/ sanitary pads across the country. More than 1000 packets of sanitary pads are distributed so far. Every month we are distributing 500 packets, soon will be increased double.
  7. Not only this, As the requirement of pads is very high, we can't afford every-time buying from medical shop. We have started in-house production of sanitary pads (BIS Approved materials are used). This initiative have created employment opportunities for few girls and also produced pads at half of the market price. Now with the same funds we are able to help double numbers of beneficiaries & give employment to few girls. Thus impact is 3 times.
  8. Also, we receive many calls asking for help in medical emergencies, where someone met an severe accident or someone (sometimes single earning member of the family) is suffering from chronic disease. We only provide them small financial help with our existing capacity. We regret many cases are left unattended & few have lost their lives too. However, we are forming a dedicated team of medical social workers to attend all these case and extend our best possible support.
  9. There are many other humanitarian initiatives are taken by us. We are not able to describe everything in this short update. Keep visiting our website www.yefindia.org, we will be updating all the ground reports on website.
Thank you so much for your kind support. All these was possible only because of your your support. We hope this will remain continue.
