Whenever any disaster hits, one of the greatest impacts is upon the children. Specifically, children from the poor and vulnerable households which have a paucity of funds and takes effort unimaginable to make their ends meet. As survival becomes the only necessity, we see a steep rise in dropout rates. To make a contribution to the gross income, children are forced into the labour fields while some are trafficked. While others are married off at an early age. Vulnerabilities are manifold. The aftermath of COVID 19 will not be an exception. Globally the estimates of children who are likely to drop out of school are 1.5 billion (according to the UNICEF policy brief published in April, Impact of COVID on children). We are undertaking a 'Learning Recovery Programme' to ensure that children retain their basic numeracy, reading and writing skills. We will implement the programme by organizing learning camps for accelerated learning and shall train parents to support children with their learning. We will also undertake extra-curricular activities for children, which shall help children, get back to their studies, once the schools reopen. Your generous support will help us kids.
