Violence against women has been and continues to be a pressing issue in Maharashtra and India as a whole. To create sustainable networks to address the issues, organizations working on the issue of gender violence in the State, decided to get together and form a forum. It was decided that this forum would meet every two years for two and a half days and would act as a platform for:
  • Grass-root level research through paper-presentations
  • Plenary sessions by experts in the field
  • Support and build capacity of grass-root level activists from rural and urban Maharashtra
  • Improve and strengthen the services provided by organisations working on the issues of Violence Against Women
The First Maharashtra Mahila Hinsa Mukt Parishad was organized in 2015 by two organizations – Maasum, Pune and Stree Mukti Sanghatana, Mumbai, at Pune. It was attended by 150 activists from over 25 organizations from all over Maharashtra. There were 20 research papers presented and 4 plenary sessions with experts who addressed the forum.

In 2017, Five organizations - Stree Mukti Sanghatana, Mumbai, Maasum, Pune, Akshara, Mumbai, Special Cell for Women and Children- TISS Mumbai, Sneha, Mumbai and Ami Amcha Aarogya Saathi, Nagpur organized the second Maharashtra Mahila Hinsa Mukt Parishad at Navi Mumbai, which was attended by over 45 organizations and over 250 activists working on the field. There were 24 papers presented.

The next Parishad is to be held on December 19-21st  2019, hosted by Savitribai Stree Adyasan Kendra, Yashwantrao Chavan Mukt Vidyapeeth, Nashik has been organized by nine NGOs from Maharashtra – Sangini Mahila Mandal, Nashik, Stree Mukti Sanghatana, Mumbai, Maasum, Pune, Akshara, Mumbai, Sneha, Mumbai, Saad Foundation, Chalisgaon, Special Cell for Women and Children- TISS Mumbai and Ami Amcha Aarogya Saathi, Nagpur. About 40 papers are scheduled to be presented and six plenary sessions are planned.

We hope to raise an amount of Rs. 2,71,000 which would be utilized for logistics, establishment costs of the participants and food

The Venue costs and accommodation of Rs. 1,50,000 will be sponsored by the host Savitribai Stree Adyasan Kendra, Yashwantrao Chavan Mukt Vidyapeeth, Nashik. The registration fees of Rs. 300 per participant is levied. The organizing NGOs have made a contribution of Rs. 1,00,000
