    Lal Sakhi The Womens Voice

    from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

 Hello Everyone,
We are Lal Sakhi- The Women's Voice Organisation in India. We are here to raise funds for Rural Women and Girls
Menstrual hygiene is a Human Right and Indian Rural Women and Girls are still deprived of their basic rights. Lal Sakhi  BELIEVES that “Each and every single woman should have access to eco-friendly, sustainable and safe menstrual products”. visit: www.lalsakhi.in
Lack of access to menstrual products, hygienic-sanitary conditions, and knowledge about menstruation often leads them to face health adversities. Now, this is the time to address the issue. We have distributed more than 500 menstrual cups for free with proper counseling. Let's come together and take a step to be a part of this movement.

“Your one Step towards Revolution” Your small contribution can help sustain a woman to lead a safe and healthy period.

To make their lives easier and menstruation healthier and safer Lal Sakhi, A not-for-profit organization has started this great initiative called  “CHANGE AGENTS MOVEMENT”,  where Agents provide free counseling and Menstrual Cups to women who can not afford it. We have made India’s first Menstrual Cups User NRLM S.H.G (Self Help Group) and India’s first Village where all the RURAL WOMEN are using menstrual cups and cloth pads which are not only sustainable, eco friendly but also women-friendly in nature. Let’s join “CHANGE AGENTS MOVEMENT”, to save the “ENVIRONMENT”AND ”MOTHER NATURE” both.

Why is a “Menstrual Cup” a sustainable and better option?

A woman on average uses 17000 plastic based sanitary napkins in her whole life. And it  takes around 500 to 800 years for one napkin to get disposed of/degrade.These plastic based sanitary pads add 9000 tons of waste every year. And these sanitary pads are made up of 90% of plastic . This adds more than eight thousand tons of plastic waste to the humongous 3.3 million metric tons of plastic waste generated in India . If a woman uses a menstrual cup, it lasts for about 8-10 years Whereas a Menstrual Cup is eco-friendly as well as women-friendly.
Thus we are driving towards Sustainable Development Goals 2015 of the United Nations by focusing on SDG  3,5,6, and 12 i.e.; Good health and well-being, Gender Equality, Clean water and Sanitation, Responsible Consumption and Production respectively.
Our Immediate Need/target- Funds for 5000 Menstrual cups.
1 Cup Costs  300 Rs
Total 300*5000= 1,500,000

ABOUT LAL SAKHI-
Lal Sakhi - The Women’s Voice is a NGO registered under Societies Act 1973, in January 2020 in India. The key focus areas are women reproductive healthcare, sanitation and hygiene, education, children, livelihood and environmental sustainability. Lal Sakhi is running a campaign CHANGE AGENTS MOVEMENT under the Project-DHARTI ( Degradable Hygiene Management and Recycling Training Initiative) to ensure safe menstrual hygiene for mother nature.

WHY " CHANGE AGENTS MOVEMENT" STARTED?

There are over 355 million menstruating women and girls in India, but millions of women across the country still face significant barriers to a comfortable and dignified experience with menstrual health. Almost 88% of women and girls in India use homemade alternatives, such as old cloth, rags, hay, sand, or ash which may have health repercussions. The alternatives are used owing to lack of access to menstrual products, socioeconomic conditions, and lack of awareness. Seeing and encountering the difficulties/ problems faced by rural women, the Change Agent Movement came into existence. Through this movement, the agents share their experience of using hygienic menstrual products with other rural women and motivate and train them to use the same. The Agents provide free counseling and menstrual cups to women who can not afford it. We have made India’s first Menstrual Cup User, NRLM S.H.G (Self Help Group),and India’s first village where all the Rural women are using sustainable and environment-friendly menstrual hygiene products. This framework is self-sustaining as the people who are internal to these societies are initiating the change and therefore this requires just firing up the momentum.
