When the COVID-19 Lockdown was announced, most of us retreated to the security of our Homes, but at the same time, lot of  Homeless people were left abandoned on the streets of Srivilliputhur, Madurai .

In such a situation, when most supply chains were broken, procurement was limited, staff was in shortage , even movement was restricted; taking on the biggest risk of Infection on ourselves, the COVID AID 101 Team, began an Initiative, to care for and to provide Food, which is one of the most basic necessities to at least 100 Homeless people daily or anyone who needed, who did not have a roof to sleep under, nor a kitchen to cook in, nor money to feed themselves and their children.

The initiative is run by Virudhnagar , Tamilnadu based 80 G Certified  N.G.O , KAMALA NATRAJAN CHARITABLE TRUST is still operating, and has till date, successfully and safely Donated over 15,500 meals and has been operating daily for more than 240 Days with just 2 unavoidable breaks.

The Initiative began on Self-Funding, but as the days passed the demand for food on the streets from various areas increased, Lockdowns were Extended, thus COVID AID 101 began accepting donations to scale-up the amount of meals and the duration of donation.

As the Government began the UNLOCK process, the condition for everyone is easing, but the Homeless are still suffering, they still lack the means & money to feed themselves and their families.

COVID AID 101 Team has been persistently working for the people on the streets & needs to continue operations and keep donating food daily for the Homeless and any other persons in need, for as long as possible, but for that we require your Help and Donations to keep it running!

COVID AID 101 issues acknowledgements to all direct donors and maintains a record of total number of meals donated, areas donated, distribution partners, etc. which is updated every 10-15 days on the Facebook Page of COVID AID 101

I sincerely request everyone to donate as much, or as little as possible for this good cause during such overwhelmingly difficult times.

A Cup of Coffee in a cafe can be let go to feed 3-4 hungry persons.

A donation as small as Rs.100 can also feed 3-4 Homeless people.
