Hi i am Rahul, with Building Blocks India, a charity to educate children from the poor areas of society. Today i am going to share the story of Khushboo and her family( names changed to protect privacy).

Khushboo ( name changed to protect privacy) lives with her parents and 2 of her other siblings. Her family of 5 live in a house on rent of Rs 4000 (USD 54) per month. Their house in the slum is located in a very congested part, making their living conditions very difficult with no proper ventilation or light. It’s a single room which they use as a living room, dining room and a bedroom. A small portion of this room has been set up as kitchen. Another corner is divided as a small bathing area and to wash their utensils. They use a common toilet outside of their house which is shared among three families. Their house has electric connection for which they pay Rs 150 (USD 2) per month. They have water supply outside of their house in the street from where they have to fill water in buckets and pots, bring it home and fill it in water storage barrels. They pay Rs 300 (USD 4) per month for water supply. This water supply comes only for 2 days a week.
Khushboo’s mother, Mala, is a housewife. She can’t go out to work to bring some extra funds done she has to focus on taking care of her children and keep the home fires burning. Her father, Prem, works as a painter and earns a wage of Rs 500 (USD 7) per day. He gets work 4 days a week. He takes good care of his family and is a responsible father.
Both father and mother are very supportive of their children’s education and wellbeing. They are very grateful for the sponsorship through which their children could finish their kindergarten at Building Blocks India. They are in hope that their children get sponsorship to continue their education, primary through high school and further, so they can have a better life and be able to support themselves and their family.
Each year about 153 children like having a story like Khushboo graduate from Building Blocks Kindergarten and need to join formal school.

Help us educate and empower them. Be a part of their future today

Project +10 is an initiative to make sure that the children like Khushboo get an opportunity to study from Grade 1 through to Grade 10. Since the parents are very poor and can not afford to send the children to English medium schools, we are asking you to adopt a child to assist him/her through the first ten years or more of schooling. We believe you will find great joy in your giving and will be making an impactful investment in their future! The Cycle of poverty can only be broken when we educate our children. So join now and become part of the change.
