The current situation
Tamil Nadu is reeling under the second wave of COVID-19 infections and people are dying because hospitals and Public Healthcare Centers (PHCs) do not have sufficient Oxygen. When a patient who needs Oxygen at an early stage does not have access to it, their condition deteriorates quickly, requiring ICU care or Ventilator support, reducing their chance of survival and placing significant strain on the critical care system, which is already beyond breaking point. We want to break this cycle by ensuring that patients who need it, have immediate access to oxygen, helping them recover and reducing the demand for already scarce resources (beds, infrastructure, and medical staff).
What we do
We identify regions where the COVID case load is high AND where O2 supply is inadequate and convert existing beds in Public Health Centers into O2 beds by supplying High Flow Oxygen Concentrators.
One High Flow Oxygen Concentrator (5 to 10 liters per minute at 90% O2 concentration) costs around INR 75,000 (approx. USD 1,000). Including other essential medical equipment like Monitors, Crash Carts and Consumables, the total cost is INR 1,00,000 (approx. USD 1,400) per bed. We carefully select, source and deliver this equipment to Public Health Centers providing FREE services to COVID patients. Our team also trains the healthcare staff on safe and efficient usage of the equipment.
Each O2 bed that we set-up not only helps save lives but is also a significant blessing for doctors and frontline healthcare staff who struggle every day due to the lack of basic O2 infrastructure.

Who we are
Covid India Campaign (www.CovidIndiaCampaign.org) is a pan-India disaster support task force started under the aegis of ICATT Foundation (www.icatt.in), a registered NGO, and is a group of volunteers comprising Doctors, IIT Graduates and Entrepreneurs. We work closely with City Administrations, Public Health Centers and Frontline Health Workers to help meet the staggering demand for Oxygen and other medical equipment.
We work with hundreds of volunteers across several domains including intensive care specialists, frontline doctors, healthcare entrepreneurs, NGOs, social workers, corporate leaders and alumni of the IITs and IIMs. We also have many enthusiastic and energetic field volunteers thanks to our partners at Aviratha Bharatha.
What we have achieved so far
As a part of the “Breathe Bengaluru” initiative, which was kicked off in April 2021, we have set-up 60 Oxygenated Beds in 8 Public Health Centers in Karnataka so far. With COVID numbers spiking in Tamil Nadu, we believe that the state and its people need our help NOW.
We had also enabled donations of essential medical supplies like N95 Masks, PPE Kits, etc. worth over INR 4 Crores (approx. USD 550,000) via our partner NGOs like Give India, Ekam Foundation and Corporate CSR Programs including Flipkart and Atkins Global through our Save Our Saviors Program.
