OUR STORY
Nestled in the outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Anbu Thondu Nilayam houses 35 elderly survivors of leprosy, a disease that causes skin lesions and affects the skin, eyes, and peripheral nerves. These 35 elderly individuals were abandoned by their families, and have no financial resources to meet their basic needs.
In order to assist them, the old age home stepped in to cater to their needs, including providing them with housing, medicines, and three meals a day. However, the recent onslaught of the 2nd wave of COVID-19 has strained the old age home's finances -- as a result, the home is unable to afford operational costs.
