Hello , My name is Shivansh Aggarwal.
I am a student, currently pursuing graduation from Delhi University. I always believe in doing social work whether it be teaching or spreading awareness etc.
I took this campaign because
Menstruation is one thing from which we’re shying away from talking. Many studies have shown that 70 percent of women feel uncomfortable discussing their period with their male friends, make teacher, brother or father. I believe if I'm aware of this problem, challenges and struggles girls face, I'm capable to spread this awareness among everyone. There are many myths and stigma associate with menstruation and
education plays a vital role in eliminating these things.
In rural areas girls are not aware about menstruation especially about menstruation hygiene because they have inaccurate knowledge about it due to which they ignore personal hygiene during menstruation period.
Research have shown that in rural areas, women do not have access to sanitary napkins as according to them they are unable to afford such products due to high cost. So, they mostly rely on reusable cloth pads which they wash and use again which is not at all hygienic.
I want to help these people by increasing awareness among adolescent girls on Menstrual Hygiene, I'll make sure that people will have access sanitary napkins in rural areas and
I hope by joining this campaign I'll be able to chip away the taboo that persists around menstruation.
