“None of the doctors could tell us what was wrong with my son. Some treated him for pneumonia while some told us that it is just an infection. But his breathing trouble didn't go away. Three days ago, his condition became so bad that we had to take him to the hospital. Doctors told us that he has a hole in his heart and he needs surgery immediately. We are too poor to buy food every day - we save and eat over the week. How can I afford my son's surgery that he needs in few hours?” - Narendra, father.

We thought he was just a cranky baby, never thought that he would have a heart problem

5-year-old Golu was born with a congenital heart disorder. He has a hole in his heart and now only an urgent open heart surgery can save him.
“Ever since his birth, Golu has always been a cranky child. He started having fevers every other day and was always sneezing and coughing. After some time, I noticed the bluish tinge in his body - I figured that it was something serious. Medicines and visits to the doctors didn't help. Now we are struggling to afford the life-saving surgery that is his only hope” - Meena, mother.

The leftovers from the wheat are the only thing that we have been living on

Narendra and Meena have 5 children - 3 daughters and 2 sons. Both of them work on others’ fields and make about Rs 150-200 per head. They live in a small village about 9 kms away from Ambah, Madhya Pradesh.
“We never earned enough to feed our children. We toil the entire day to bring few morsels of food for our children - Meena and I mostly survive on the leftovers of the wheat. Now, when I see my son battling a heart disease, the only thing I think about is the cost of the surgery,” - Narendra.

We have been paying hospital bills on borrowed money -without help, I won’t be able to save my son

Meena and Narendra remember the horrific day when they came back from the fields to see Golu gasping for breath. Now their playful and happy 5-year-old is fighting for his life.

“We couldn’t afford an ambulance and took him in a bus, all the while praying that he makes it. My little kids are at home, all by themselves. It’s the harvest season and my neighbours are also too busy to look after them. I came to Delhi with Rs 20,000 - that is soon going to get over. I need 5 lakhs for Golu’s surgery, please help me save him,” - Narendra.

These parents have been living on empty stomachs, trying to save every rupee for their son's surgery, but they are still far behind. They are looking to you for help to save their son
