Help Parth To Get a Liver Transplant

Why am I fundraising?
I am Prachi Y. Rajwade. My 7-month-old son Parth is fighting with chronic liver disease called Liver Cirrhosis caused due to biliary atresia. He has undergone a surgery (Kasai Procedure) at the age of 2.5 months, but unfortunately surgery did not help and was termed a failure. Parth is a young fighter with a strong will power but his liver now needs a transplant as early as possible.

About Parth
Parth was born in 8th month of pregnancy. Even being a pre-mature, he seemed to be healthy at the time of birth with 2.9 kg of weight. One month later, we observed that his eyes were yellow and were showing symptoms of jaundice. Soon he was diagnosed with rare liver condition called biliary atresia. Doctors then suggested a surgery called Kasai procedure. But unfortunately, four months after surgery doctors observed that the operation did not help, so Parth needs to undergo liver transplant.

He is at home in Dombivli and having treatment in Global Hospitals, Mumbai (Liver OPD). His UHID No. is: 105085014.

What is Biliary Atresia?
Biliary atresia, also known as extrahepatic ductopenia, progressive obliterative cholangiopathy is a childhood disease of the liver in which one or more bile ducts are abnormally narrow, blocked, or absent. It can be congenital or acquired. As a birth defect in newborn infants, it has an incidence of one in 10,000–15,000 live births in the United States, and a prevalence of one in 16,700 in the British Isles. The causes of biliary atresia are not well understood. The only effective treatments are surgeries such as the Kasai procedure and liver transplantation. (Source: Wikipedia)

What do I plan to do with the funds?
Parth's Hospital (Global Hospitals, Parel,Mumbai) has provided the following breakdown for the funds:

Post Liver Transplant he will need lifelong immune suppression and follow up with Global Hospital Mumbai Team. His Medical expenses in first three months will be 30,000/month, then 15,000/month till one year and later 10,000/month in 2nd year.

Parth has been bravely battling his life-threatening liver ailment. We now need your support. The target has been set to cover, transplant and post-transplant care for 2 years including medications. A small contribution can go a long way to help Master Parth to survive and have a healthy life.

# Late post # 21st March'17

Hi everyone..

Again sorry for late update, its been a stressful day today..not physically but mentally.

# Day 01 post transplant

# Donor update -
Yogesh is recovering well as expected..Today they made him walk and seat for some time.
He did some breathing exercises too..
His liver reports are normal..
Also started with oral fluids..

Mostly expected to get shifted from ICU by tomorrow evening..

# Recipient update-

For Parth its truly a painful day..he started getting conscious from afternoon.
Still under effect of sedation, so he was not completely awaken.
By late in the evening they allowed me to speak with him..he could not be recognize me initially because of mask and other safety majors..but as soon i called his name he looked at me n started crying..
As if he wanted me to pick him up take him away from all this.

Its really difficult for him to understand the situation, the pain, the surrounding, strange faces, hunger as he is starving since two days.
I could see everything in his eyes..

Doctors said that he is stable but liver function reports are still going up and down which has to be settle down soon.. Also because of pre transplant cold and immunosuppression he will take some time to recover.

Please keep praying for Parth..he needs ur wishes and blessings to get out of this crucial situation..
