Fixing and Beautifying Black Spot on Kanakapura Road-Phase 2

Hi All,

Thank you for all your contributions for clearing the black spot. As the Joint Commissioner Mentions, this was the Toughest stretch he had come across because of lot of politicians and the garbage mafia involved in this. Hope, you are easily able to walk on this side of the footpath now without having to worry about the garbage.

After a lot of efforts and spending over 1.25Lakhs, we were able to successfuly cleanup and beautify the black spot stretch opposite to Jaraganahalli Arch (HM Tambourine apartment Exit Gate). However, there are still some of the challenges that remain before us and they are:

1. We have another small stretch near the Jaraganahalli Bus stop where people now have started dumping the garbage.
2. BBMP couldn't help us fixing the footpath, and none of the authorities are taking the responsibility of the footpath (BBMP, BMRCL, NH). We had made several follow ups. But, everyone is running away from responsibility. Hence we are planning to do it ourselves with your help (Fixing the footpath would cost us around 10K)
3. Even after beautification, people are stopping here to piss and they are ruining the sheets that we all together put by spending a lot of money. Hence we are planning to make bamboo fabrication work between the footpath and the road (This is also assumed to cost around 10k)
4. We need to make sure it is easier for people to cross the kanakapura road near the jaraganahalli arch. One way to start with is to paint 3d zebra crossing on kanakapura road (We shall later ask for traffic signal in this stretch)

We have estimated that all these would cost us around 40k+. We have around 7k from your previous contributions We know your contributions are very valuable, we would try to do everything with the cheapest resources possible.

HI,

Sorry for the late update. I had to do this update since I hadn't withdrawn the amount from MIlaap even after finishing the front gate portion. We finished closing as well as painting of the place opposite HM Tambourine by 21st November 2018 itself. We had some other plans of this project which includes putting footpath slabs and adding a layer of extra barrier between the road and the footpath. However, we didn't wanted to continue until the gail gas pipelines are laid (Which totally troubled our project) since they might brake some more footpath slabs as well as dig or damage the things that we have done. The garbage at the exit gate has started troubling us again, but our sheets remain intact except the one old sheet which has been torn and reused.
Once GAIL work is completed, we shall try to put footpath slabs as well as an extra barrier between footpath and road with the extra money we have. I will give you an update on the spendings so far in another email.

Also, Our group KARAMoC (The consortium of 10 apartments) will be meeting with health inspector and the field experts to come up with a sustainable solution for the garbage problem in both Jaraganahalli and Yelachenahalli ward (where it is rampant). We might discuss few things like enforcement of plastic ban, creating awareness, ensuring door to door collection is happening, ensuring shopkeepers are giving the waste to correct vendors and so on. The first meeting will be for KARAMoC volunteers. We shall open it for the residents after we come up with an action plan. The details of the resident meeting shall be informed prior on the resident whatsapp group as well as other communication channels.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. Together we can change our Neighbourhood
