Fixing and Beautifying Black Spot on Kanakapura Road

That ill-scented welcome at the national highway, the dogs fighting for animal bones, A huge bury of non vegetarian waste, Huge stinky smell that almost made the reporter to faint at the spot. This is the everyday story of residents living near Kanakapura road. BBMP  are the culprits as they themselves welcome the garbage throwers with their huge trucks and lorries dumping at the place for the segregation and transfer.

After a lot of efforts, we have now convinced BBMP to cleanup and cover the place. But, like they did last time they want to cover up with just a net which was burried last time in just 24hours.

We have decided that unless we put up a strong fencing, cleanup and beautify the place, there won't be any reduction in the garbage. But, that comes with a cost. Fencing and beautifying requires a little extra cost. Since we are doing this for a stretch of 500m, we have estimated it to be at least around 1L.  But, that won't be a very huge money if we all pool in together.

so, Request you to contribute generously for the same. However small your contribution is, it is always valuable

His Initial Expenditure List

His worksheet after the work was completed

Hi Residents,

Here is the update. The black has now been converted to a beautiful place now with the limited budget and limitations that we had.

Here is what happened all these days

1. For the fencing work, we tied up with the cheapest vendor that we could get since we had to get the work done within our limited budget.
2. The vendor was little slow in his work and we had to make continuous follow ups to make sure he works on time. The work was also not as expected
3. While the finder was about to finish his fencing work, the GAIL gas pipelines was dumped on the place were we are doing this cleanup.
4. We had hard time to find the contacts related to GAIL and making sure they move the pipelines out of the place so that we can beautify.
5. The BBMP got some wet mix for the half asphalted road (Ideally we wanted the Asphalting to happen. But, we have been continuously following up with NH, BMRCL and BBMP for this with each of them not taking responsibility of the road)
6. The pipelines were cleared after the continuous follow ups

Has it been changed from the past? How was the situation before?

We will give a detailed updates about the funds and how it was used in another email.

Thanks you for the continuous support from all of you.

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for all the love and support.

We had initially thought that we could do the cleanup with around Rs. 50000/- as suggested by the health inspector. But, we have tried getting quotations from the metal sheets and fabricator vendors, and they are all quoting not less than 1.5k for the sheets and fabrication work only. We are contacting a second-hand dealer today and expect the amount to go up till Rs. 1 lakh.

Including the beautification, paint, sitting arrangements etc., we are also trying to get contributions from nearby apartments, villagers and schools.

All the poles have been fixed, and the fabrication work will most likely be finished today. We are also in touch with people to fix the broken footpath and to find an alternative for the half asphalted road.

Since our current estimates for the project seems to be very high, we increasing the goal amount as well as the time.

Thank you all for the wonderful response! Do keep sharing the campaign!

Regards,
Aleem
