Our Background:

With blessings and financial support from His Holiness The Dalai Lama Trust, Jamyang School started its work in the year 2008 as H.H the Dalai Lama as its Chief Patron and Ngari Rinpoche Tenzin Cheogyal, the younger brother of H.H. The Dalai Lama as the Chief advisor.
The day to day supervision is done by Geshe Lobzang Samsan as the school director and Geshe Tsultrim Tharchen as the Principal.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to provide free education to the poor and destitute children from remote and backward areas of Ladakh such as Dha-Hanu. These childre are from those areas where there is no education and health facility at all. The poorest of the poor are admitted to the school.
The admission is on the basis of selection done by a committee including village elders and its strictly done after detail scrutiny of the financial position of the parents.

Current Status:
The school is currently a primary school going up to class 6, with the addition of a new and higher class every year. Next year the school will enter Middle School territory with the addition of class 7. This way the students need not worry about transferring to other schools for the foreseeable future and may remain in the comfort of their home away from home. The Schools is continously funded and supportred by The Dalai Lama Trust. The principal and secretary, both are giving free service offer to the school which means they didn't get salary from school administration or The Dalai Lama Trust. Initially school has 62 students and few staff with low salary.
Now we have 331 students out of this this 90 students are collected small fees from the parents and 99 students sponsors by individual and Ngo.
We are trying to find sponsor of 142 students around leh and backward area of ladakh.
The staff comprises of a total of 26 – including the teachers, cooks, wardens, cleaners and drivers. This figure does not include the Director and Principle of the school, the Geshe-la’s.
