Help India Breathe!

India is currently fighting the world’s worst second wave of COVID-19 with record breaking daily cases. Hospitals and healthcare providers are running out of resources in their fight against the pandemic and the situation on the ground is dire. Oxygen is critically needed by hospitals to treat patients.

Let us come together to support this important and urgent cause for procurement and deployment of Oxygen Concentrators for India!

What is this campaign ?
Swasth Alliance and ACT grants are looking to procure 50,000 Oxygen Concentrators (OCs) and other medical supplies to aid the fight against COVID-19.

Indian Women Circle Community has created this fundraiser for all the members of the community to help and raise funds for this campaign to procure Oxygen Concentrators from the US and deploy for those in need across India through Swasth Alliance and ACT Grants.

How can 'YOU' help ?
Past few weeks on our Indian Women Circle(IWC) group have been overwhelming and heartening with hundreds of messages asking for oxygen cylinders for our near and dear ones who were affected by COVID 19 back home. At times we felt helpless and wish we could do something being far away for our family and for others who are impacted.

For this very reason, we have created this fundraiser so that we can do our part and help in our own small way to make a BIG difference in someone's life and may be SAVE a life.

Let us do our bit by donating for this noble cause which will help deployment of oxygen concentrators in hospitals in India.

We are a community of 3600+ women and even if each of us donate minimum 10$, we can help in a big way and can raise enough for approximately 30+ Oxygen Concentrators which can help save lives of 40,500(forty thousand five hundred) patients.
  • Average cost of 1 High Flow Oxygen Concentrator = USD 800 = Save lives of up to 900 patients
  • Average cost of 1 Low Flow Oxygen Concentrator = USD 600 = Save lives of up to 550 patients
Our Goal is to raise a minimum of USD 5000 which can help to purchase 7 to 10 or more oxygen concentrators helping lives of at least 9000(nine thousand) Covid-19 infected patients. And if we can raise more, it will be even better.

We request each member of Indian Women Circle(IWC) to come together in this difficult times and do your bit by donating as much as you can. This will make a huge difference in people’s lives. You can also help by sharing this campaign in your network and help spread the word to raise more funds.

"DONATE NOW| SPREAD THE WORD | SAVE LIVES"

Details of the Swasth Alliance Main Campaign:
1. Link to the main campaign on Milap to which this fundraiser will contribute to:  https://milaap.org/fundraisers/Donate-for-Oxygen

2. What are costs for procurement of these devices?
The procured OCs shall be a mix of high-flow and low-flow devices. Each high flow oxygen concentrator costs Rs. 60,000 (USD 800) and each low flow concentrator costs Rs 45,000 (USD 600). The rates of procurement are based on bulk orders placed with our suppliers.

3. Where and how are the OCs being deployed?

These oxygen concentrators will be channeled to hospitals across levels of care that will support the response against COVID-19 as well as strengthen the health system in the longer term.
The process of distribution of concentrators is based on 3 key principles, namely:
i) Equitable distribution - Ensuring the areas and institutions in most need receive them
ii) Transparency - All details on demand and deployment shall be published on the website. These dashboards can be accessed at: https://www.swasth.app/oxygenforindia
iii) Impact: Distribution to be made as rapidly as possible to save the maximum lives. The assessment of impact shall also be undertaken on a monthly basis.

3) Why are the exchange rates lower than real-time values?
We assure you that exchange rate you see at the time of donation is purely notional - funds raised in all foreign currencies (we support around 12+ international currencies apart from INR) are held in our US custodian account and transferred as $ when the organizers request the same.

The exchange rate they receive in Rupees is based on that date of receipt of funds through their bank. For example, current (27-04-2021) notional FX rate on site is 52 INR / SGD whereas the equivalent FX rate at the time of transfer (on 27-04-2021) to recipient is around ~ 55 INR / SGD

The notional value of keeping a slightly lower exchange rate for display is to ensure that fundraisers don't suffer from a shortage should there be a fluctuation/volatility in currency movements. So we are conservative with our display. Please note that we make no money directly or indirectly in FX arbitrages or floats associated with it.
