Why am I fundraising?

Himanshi wants to become an Artist. Bhawna dreams to showcase her creative skills to the world. Girls like Himanshi and Bhawna, living in the J.J. Colony might not be comfortable with their academics but they are second to none when it comes to creativity & art. Unfortunately, their parents want them either to be married right after school or to work for a meagre earning at such a young age because they cannot afford it. They don't value their ward's skills. The basic problem is awareness about arts and crafts. It is hardly taken up as a primary occupation by anyone. So we intend to spread awareness among such people on How to get employment by nurturing their skills and fuelling their talent. By teaching them creative arts like handicraft items with clay, paper mache art, oil paintings etc, we intend to make them self-reliant. We also aim to provide them with an apt platform like an exhibition to showcase what talent they have.

What do I plan to do with the funds?

We need money to source the raw material in order to teach students nuances of Arts and Crafts.  Majority of the handicraft work requires wood, paper, glue, matt finish, a variety of colors, clay, glass, canvas, paintbrushes, frames, earthen pots & vases and a number of other items. Each of such craft items is available at a significant cost. Special crafting tools would be required in order to give specific shapes, cuts and designs. All of this needs to be given to these students so that they can learn on their own. Each student would get an entire crafting set and our mission is to train around 100 students depending on the funds generated and cost of sourcing at the time of buying. Plus we will provide them suitable platforms like handicraft markets in Dilli Haat, Pragati Maidan etc where they can really earn through their art which also is a considerable cost.

A high level break-up* for the expenses per student is given below:
  • 10 X 1 block of fibre sheet/wooden plank : 2500 (varies according to shapes and sizes)
  • 2 X 1 Fevicol: 300
  • 30 X Fabric/Metallic/Pearls Color set: 2250
  • 1 set of Paint Brush: 200
  • 1 set of Sparkles/Glitters: 75
