    Twins of Reshma

    from Nagar Road,Pune

27-year-old Reshma had few worries in her life. Born and settled in Baramati, Reshma was sure that life would always work out in her favour.

“I have been married for seven years now. My husband works as a driver and the money he makes is barely enough to feed us both. But still, I didn’t have many complaints. We were both working hard and that was enough. I always believed that as long as we are honest to ourselves and the life that we had made, it would eventually be a smooth ride. But clearly, fate had different reasoning,” said Reshma.

Reshma was 26 weeks pregnant when her water broke. She had to be rushed to the hospital where her twins were born extremely premature. Due to the lack of proper medical care in her hospital, she and her babies were moved to Pune for further treatment.

“I have been here for one and a half month now and my babies are still struggling. They are barely the size of my palm and I cannot even imagine the amount of discomfort or pain they must be in. We were not prepared for this. My life has been completely shattered,” she said.

With nowhere to go in Pune, Reshma has been staying in the waiting room next to her babies NICU in the hospital ever since she was discharged. She cares for her babies whenever the NICU timings allow and then prays for them in the waiting room.

My husband cannot be here as someone has to get the money. That is how our babies are going to survive. I am constantly worried. I have nowhere to go now. Please help me and my babies,” she said.

The doctors told Reshma that she can take the babies home only after they weigh 3kgs. Both the kids are now 800 grams. So far, Reshma has received the hospital bill of Rs 6 lakh. The doctors had told her the cost of NICU stay for her babies would come up to Rs 20 lakh.

“We have no money. Even in our worst dreams, we never thought something like this could happen. There is no one to fall back on, no one to ask for help. I don’t know how will we manage to get out of this situation. I want to take my babies; I want my husband to hold my babies and make them laugh. But nothing like that would ever happen if we are unable to pay the hospital fees,” she said.

She can take her babies home with your help.
