"Even after a transplant and almost extracting a major chunk of his colon, this cancerous tumour is after my son's life.We have spent close to 45 lakhs on his treatment in the past two years, only in the hopes that now our child will be cured. Yet, he is forced to face another new challenge and that makes me feel so miserable. This cancer has turned my lively boy into a fearful boy who wonders if he will even get a chance to wake up tomorrow." - Suman, father

At 3am, these parents rushed to the hospital only to find out their son has cancer

It all started in December 2021 when Suman and Mita noticed their son drastically losing weight and his eyes starting to become pale. They got opinions from several doctors who felt he had a pulmonary issue. However, turned out to be cancer.

"He took to bed completely and that's when we decided to admit him to a hospital. Suddenly, at around 3am I got a call from the hospital that we need to arrange blood for him immediately as his blood levels are dangerously low." - Mita mother

His colon had to be taken out because of a rapidly growing tumour

That day, Mita and Suman found out about a massive tumour, known as large B-cell Lymphoma. blocking their son's colon. The doctors had to operate and take out 8 inches of his colon but by then the cancer had already spread to the rest of his body. They created an outer channel in January 2022, and since then, he has had a colostomy bag attached to his body.

"It changed my son's life knowing that he has to keep this bag attached to his body till his cancer is cured. It embarrassed him so much that he stopped talking to all his friends. We tried every possible thing to cheer him up but he is just 15, and it is such a sensitive time for a young boy to cope with this sudden tragedy."- Mita, mother

This father begs for a second chance to save his son

Amidst all this, their son got tested positive for COVID-19 and his chemotherapy had to be stopped during that time. That aggravated his cancer further and infected his stomach. He underwent a bone marrow transplant in May 2022 but his cancer returned during his maintenance.

Today, he is awaiting a chance to get CAR T-Cell therapy, where his immune cells (T-cell) would be replaced in the laboratory to help them bind to cancer and kill them. This is the only shot left for him to survive but it will cost this family INR 60 lakhs. It is impossible for his father to arrange this huge sum of money by solely working at a construction company.

"I feel lost. This situation has burdened me both, emotionally and financially. Whatever I earn, it's all for my son. My life won't matter anymore if I fail to save him. Every month we incur expenses of Rs.50,000 on his medicines and colostomy bag. Only God knows that I've put in every penny I ever had and even in the darkest of times my heart just refuses to give up. How can I do that to my own child when he is fighting to live every second for us?"- Suman, father

Despite all his struggles, their son is so determined to not let this affect his studies that he convinced his school to allow him to sit in his room and appear for exams. He was unable to physically go to write his exams because of the risk of infections due to his poor immunity. But still, he managed to write his exams and even cleared all of them. He needs another chance at life and all his past struggles can end with this surgery.

This is only possible with your generous contributions so please click here to help these parents save their only son from cancer.

Identity of the child is protected in adherence to government guidelines.
