    Rishvitha

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

Ashwini can’t help but blame herself for her daughter’s illness. She says Rishvitha got sick because she stopped feeding her breast milk, and that she didn’t have enough nutritious food while she was pregnant. She is unable to understand the cause of this deadly disease. Every time she’s poked with painful injections and she cries out in fear, it’s the most helpless Ashwini feels.

“If only I fed her properly she wouldn’t be this sick, this is all my fault.”- Ashwini, mother

“At 9 months she started walking and it was such a happy moment for us, there were no signs at all of her being sick and now all of a sudden doctors are saying she has cancer” - Chandrasekar, the father

We were so scared that our girl will not wake up

Chandrasekar rushed to the hospital when Rishvitha’s fever did not subside at all. In the next two days, she became so weak that she kept sleeping all day. They got scared and went to the hospital where they were told what their child is suffering from a deadly disease, blood cancer.

“We tried to wake her up but she did not respond at all and we got so scared that we rushed to the hospital”- Ashwini, the mother

We did not believe the doctors

The doctor said she has blood cancer. They did not believe him and went to another 2 hospitals, but the reality did not change. It was so hard for them to believe that their poor child has cancer.

Till last month Rishvitha was a happy and active child, playing and fighting with her sister. She is just 1 year 5 months old but is a very quick learner and had started to pick up a lot of words too. All of a sudden she is struggling to survive with a deadly disease.

I am just a worker and I can’t afford a 10 lakh treatment

Chandrasekar works as a daily wage worker in a private company. His income is not enough to save his daughter’s life.

Now I even have to quit this job and find another in the city as I don’t want to stay away from her at all. I am very scared, I don’t want my baby to die.” - Chandrasekar

She has a chance to lead a normal life but it is only possible with your help.
