    This fundraiser will benefit

    child of Milind Viththal Sonawane

    from Jalgaon, Maharashtra

"My son was never a healthy child. He was born with heart disease and at just 4 months of age, he underwent open-heart surgery. We were very happy that it was all over but we never stopped worrying about his health. We were cautious about everything around him. After years, when we were finally ready to put the past behind us, our child was diagnosed with cancer." - Riya, mother, unable to hold back her tears

Parth is on the road to recovery and needs a round of chemotherapy to get better. But the parents are struggling to afford it.

Parth, before he was diagnosed with cancer

He suffers from severe blood cancer

In October 2020, Parth was suffering from a continuous high fever. His body was weak and his blood levels kept going down. After going to numerous hospitals and undergoing countless tests, little Parth was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a type of blood cancer, and was immediately advised to undergo chemotherapy.

“I remember the day very vividly when the doctors said ‘your child has cancer’. I was extremely shocked. All I kept saying to myself was that this was just a bad dream and this was not happening. It was so hard to believe that Parth…but when I saw my child having his first chemotherapy, I couldn’t take it anymore and I cried the entire night silently.”- Milind, father

His smile is the only thing that got us through

“He is going through such rigorous chemotherapy. After every session, his body starts to burn with fever. He loses his appetite and has mouth ulcers. All he has is a glass of juice. Despite all the suffering and no energy to even sit, he would ask me in his fading voice ‘Can I play?'. His smile is the only thing that got us through all of this. He is all we have and it hurts to see him suffer like this.” -Riya

After all the struggle, they might still fail if they can’t afford it

The parents ran from pillar to post to keep their son alive. They sold all their valuables and borrowed money from everyone they knew. They have exhausted everything, they can’t continue the treatment anymore.

“I use to work as a TV mechanic but I lost my job during the lockdown last year. Since then I have been doing odd jobs to put food on the table. When my child got sick, I took loans and borrowed from people to get my child the treatment, but all of it is spent now and I am unable to continue anymore. I don’t wanna lose hope but...how will I save my son like this? How will I afford more lakhs of rupees?!” - Milind
