Instead of being in preschool, Navanith is in the ICU on the ventilator struggling to stay alive. Naraswamy Gowda and his wife Manjula live in Hospete with their two children Niveshree (15) and Navanith (4). They own a piece of land that gives them about Rs. 17-20,000 a year and this supports the household expenses. As you have surmised, being the youngest earns Navanith a lot of love and pampering. He is their treasure.
The local doctor in Hospete was unsure about his condition and suggested they move him elsewhere. The concerned father, as he has done in the past, brought his baby boy to Manipal in Bangalore. It did not take long for doctors to diagnose Navanith of pneumonia. He had a severe breathing problem and chest infection that has now spread to the liver.
All he wants is for this nightmare to be over. He did not know that care would exceed Rs. 6 Lakhs until he was presented with the bill and it might go over Rs. 10 Lakhs. He is unable to come up with the funds or even make arrangements to afford even a part of it. This has caught them all at the worst time, and only you can help save this baby boy by contributing towards his treatment.
