Every day, 15-year-old Mijanur watches his parents worry and he feels guilty for being sick. He takes his medicines religiously and prays to God to take his illness away. He suffers from chronic liver disease - his liver is failing and the only way to save him is a liver transplant that will cost 21 lakh rupees, but his poor parents cannot afford it.
In just a few days, their world came crashing down
Being an only child, Mijanur is everything to these parents and when his illness was diagnosed, their world came crashing down. Mijanur's stomach and legs are swollen while the rest of his body is extremely thin. He doesn't have the strength to get out of bed and finds it very painful to move even an inch. Running the house on 180 rupees a day
Mukeshwar works at a small watch shop in his village. Every day he returns home with 180 rupees in his hand for the labour he does. But it is barely enough to put food on the table, let alone anything else. Affording this transplant is beyond his means."Till now, it was only because of my kind friends and relatives that I was able to keep my son alive. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to afford even the basic medicines for my child. But the transplant is way costlier than any treatment so far.
