    This fundraiser will benefit

    child of Anwar Khan

    from Mumbai, Maharashtra

Anwar has never felt so helpless in his life before. His wife and daughter are miles away from him. And he himself is with his son, Mahir, who is suffering from multiple disorders at the same time. Mahir’s life is hanging from a thin thread. He needs to stay in the hospital for long but Anwar is in no condition to afford that. Anwar can’t help but shed tears at his plight.

Mahir has lost sight in one of his eyes, he can’t hear from one of his ears

Mahir had been diagnosed with Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) - a severe systemic inflammatory syndrome that can be fatal. What started with a minor fever soon turned out to be a dangerous disease that was killing him. HIs immune system was completely damaged, even the smallest infection could have killed him.

“Although originally from Afghanistan, I am a driver in Dubai. My entire family is there. When Mahir started getting worse, we were asked to go to India for better treatment. They said a bone marrow transplant could save him. I didn’t hesitate, I spent all that I had on that life-saving transplant. Yet, look at him now - he has lost the vision in his right eye, one of his ears has also stopped working,” - Anwar, father.

Anwar doesn’t even have Rs 2 in his pocket, he doesn’t know how he can afford his son’s treatment

Anwar had come to India with all his savings, his sole intention was to save his son’s life. But unfortunately, the transplant wasn’t a success. Mahir’s body rejected the transplant and he is suffering from severe Graft vs Host disease.

“His entire body is shutting down. That’s what the doctors are saying. His kidneys have almost stopped functioning, so has his liver. The worst part is that the infection has spread to his central nervous system and is affecting his brain. He needs to be in the hospital for more time to get better completely but how will I afford that? I don’t even have Rs 2 in my pocket now, that’s how helpless I am. Now you’re my only ray of hope. Please save my son,” - Anwar.

Mahir is only 11 and is fighting a deadly condition. His vital organs are giving up on him. But with proper medical care he will get better. Even the smallest of contributions will make a huge difference.
