"Life has always been difficult for people like us who have to hold onto every last coin of our earnings to get by each day. But it becomes merciless when I have to sit there with no strength to save my ailing daughter as her painful cries echo throughout the room." - Premchandra Kumar, father

Premchandra and Neeraj welcomed their youngest daughter with smiles and celebrations into their world. But at merely six months of age, the parents realized a strange swelling at the back of her head. It alerted them that something was wrong and they reached out to a hospital in Delhi where their worst nightmare became their harsh reality.

Suffering from hydrocephalus, an urgent surgery is her only cure.
After undergoing several tests, the doctor concluded that the one-year-old is suffering from hydrocephalus, a condition wherein there's too much cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, this excess fluid can increase pressure inside the skull, potentially leading to various neurological problems and a grave threat to life.
"We couldn't even understand what such a disease meant for our daughter's life. We just know that it is giving her so much pain, that she cannot sit anymore, her head has been rapidly swelling and weighing enormously on her and she can't sleep. She is barely a year old and life is already cursing at her. The doctor has said that only an urgent brain surgery can save her and I break down crying because we are empty from every corner, how are we supposed to shoulder the surgery's expense that costs 12 lakh rupees?" - Premchandra, tearfully.

He works as a low-wage laborer, supporting a family that is surviving on meager meals and living in a rented house
Premchandra does manual labor for a living, earning an income of 8,000 rupees a month, more than half of which goes into the rent so they don't lose the roof over their head. He lives with his wife Neeraj, their older daughter, and their ailing youngest."We have nothing in our names to spare for our baby's healthcare cost. We have spent every last coin trying to get her out of this harsh pain yet we are helpless against our circumstances. My oldest daughter should be going to school right now, but with how much we have to move back and forth from the hospital to home, we can't afford to send her to school. I need help to save my daughter... Please help us, people's generosity is our only hope." - Premchandra
