“At a time when he should have been only thinking about growing up happily, my son is suffering. There are bloody bruises all over his body and he bleeds from them every now and then. These spots then turn into black patches. His cries pierce my heart and I feel so helpless.” – Ramar, father.

Baby Bharath is only 10 months old, but he has already suffered a lifetime of pain. He was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called protein C deficiency, which increases the risk of developing abnormal blood clots. This can then cause a life-threatening blockage of blood flow known as a pulmonary embolism, if not treated urgently.

In addition, low protein C levels are highly indicative of abnormal liver function. The only way Bharath can be permanently cured is through a liver transplant.

‘He has to be taken to the hospital frequently… how long can this go on?’

Ever since his birth, baby Bharath has been ‘normal’ for only the first four days. From the fifth day onwards, he started suffering from unnatural bleeding and high fevers which have made his life hell now. He must be rushed to the hospital when his condition worsens, and nothing can stop the bleeding. This has taken a toll on the child – mentally and physically.

He is irritable all day. He does not eat food or drink milk properly. He keeps crying, which tires him out. We can only look on helplessly at his suffering. I wish God gave me his suffering…I would happily take it. It is better than watching your only child go through this.” - Varalaxmi, mother.

Nobody is willing to loan this father anymore money; he needs your help

Ramar works in provisions shop in rural Tamil Nadu, earning only INR 450 per day. He gets paid only if he can make it to work. He has already borrowed more than INR 10 lakhs to treat his son until now and has not been able to repay even the interest accumulated. As a result, no one is willing to lend him anymore money, leaving the father in a terribly anxious state.

“The liver transplant that will make my son better costs lakhs and lakhs of rupees. He needs an injection twice a day – which costs 700 rupees. We are not able to afford even that – how will we afford his transplant? My husband thinks he is failing as a father, and it is killing me. Please help us save our son before it is too late.” - Varalaxmi.

This child needs your urgent help to undergo a life-saving liver transplant.
