8-Day-Old Baby Girl With Seizures Needs Your Help To Go Home

She was only 2-days-old when I carried her to the hospital. Her little body started shaking in my arms, her eyes rolled up…I was terrified. I didn’t know what was happening. What would I tell Sarina? That I took our daughter for a checkup and I couldn’t bring her back home?”
– Saddam, father

Sarina and Saddam’s baby girl is now 8-days-old and in the NICU, and the fear remains – will they be able to take her home alive?

In just a few hours, their happiness turned tragic

September 10th was a happy day for this young couple. They were blessed with a beautiful baby girl and were told that they can take her home the next day. Sarina and Saddam were excited and nervous. The first time parents went over every checklist they in their head.

“We were ready to take her home. The doctor said she has jaundice but it would subside in no time. So the next morning, we took her home. Our relatives came to see her, but just that afternoon she started getting sicker…she couldn’t even open her eyes.”

Their baby girl had seizures, low blood sugar levels and breathing trouble. She had to be admitted to the NICU immediately. In just a few hours, their happiness disappeared. Saddam watched as his little one was taken away from his arms.

They hold her little hand, kiss her forehead – worried that it might be the last time they see her.

Sarina and Saddam’s baby needs to stay in the NICU for at least one more week to recover. In the past one week, their lives have been turned upside down.

“We have a few cows and sell milk to earn a living. I wake up at 4 am every day..I try to finish work as soon as possible so that I can go see my baby in the hospital. I’m waiting for the day I can take her home, when we won’t have to worry about losing her every minute.”

They want to name her Samaira, they want to take her home. But they after spending over 25,000 every day on her treatment, they have no means to continue to keep her in the NICU. Their newborn needs your help.
