    Baby of Renuka

    from Hyderabad, Telangana

“I am a mother of a 22-days-old baby. But, I still don't do anything a mother does- I do not feed my baby, cradle him or even change his diaper. I wait outside the NICU care everyday while he is battling for life. I pray every minute that he should fight all the way and come to me so that I can carry him back home,” - Renuka.

‘I regret not being around when my wife had pains’

Renuka and I love children, be it  the kids in our neighbourhood or relatives' children, we never miss a chance to play with them. But, we were not a lucky couple, we didn't have a baby of our own. Only after four long years, Renuka conceived and we were on cloud nine. I started looking after her and made sure she had everything she needs. During her seventh month of pregnancy, I had to leave the town for a couple of days for work. Had I known what fate had planned for us, I would have never left the house,” - Narasimhulu.

Renuka had severe pains two months before her due date. Fortunately, her sister was with her and she rushed her to the nearest hospital. As it was too early, the doctors gave her injections to control the pain and delay the delivery. But, after two days she had intense pain again and her water broke. Emergency delivery was the only option to save both Renuka and her baby.

‘My baby’s face is hidden under tubes and plasters’

Renuka gave birth to an extremely preterm baby, 26 weeks. The newborn was whisked away from the mother the moment he was born. Since the hospital did not have the facility to save his baby, Narasimhulu rushed him to another hospital and admitted to the NICU. The little one weighed only 970 grams at brith. He was suffering from jaundice and could only breathe with the help of ventilator support. The baby's condition has hardly improved. He needs to continue his treatment in the intensive care for at least 8 weeks to survive this battle.

“After the delivery I did not even get a chance to look at him properly. I desperately wanted to hold my baby and tell him that I was his mother. But only after a week I was able to  see him. My fist visit to him left me in tears, I was heart broken to see his tiny face covered with tubes and plasters,” - Renuka.

These first time parents will lose their baby without your help

Narasimhulu was born to a poor farmer but it did not stop him form being a topper in his college. He worked hard and earned a job in a private company that pays him Rs 30,000 in Chennai, with which he takes care of his parents who stay in a village and also run his house. But, the twisted fate had left him in a desperate situation. His baby will survive only with the help of NICU care and he needs 8 lakhs to save the newborn.

“I only saved for her delivery and was not prepared for anything like this. I borrowed money from my colleagues and spent around 4 lakhs. I don’t have anyone left to help me arrange this huge amount. We are parents for the first time and we don't know if we can ever have a child again. Please help me save my baby,” - Narasimhulu.

Your kind contribution can give this newborn a chance to live.
