    This fundraiser will benefit

    Baby of Priya

    from Kolkata, West Bengal

A month ago, Abhishek and Priya were joyously shortlisting names for their newborn's naming ceremony. All their family members were eagerly awaiting to catch a glimpse of their adorable princess, unaware that devastating news was waiting around the corner for them.

"The ceremony was in just 3 days but her fever wasn't going away. I could sense some kind of distress but everyone thought being a new mom, I was just panicking more than usual. Then suddenly her urine stopped and whenever I tried to feed her, she would constantly cry and choke as if something inside was troubling her immensely. What was supposed to be a regular check-up ended up with us hospitalizing her in the PICU."- Priya, mother

A rare disorder is attacking this baby's organs

After a week of hospitalization, they found out that their baby has Primary HLH (Hemophagic - Lymphohistiocytosis). It's a disorder where her immune system is excessively activated, attacking her own blood cells and damaging the organs. Being a rare disease, the doctors had advised Abhishek to immediately transfer her to a multi-specialty hospital otherwise it could be fatal for her.

Time was running out for this baby girl so she had to be airlifted urgently

At just 3-months of age, their daughter was put on constant oxygen support making these parents beat their heads on how to safely take her from Kolkata to Bangalore in this critical health condition.

"Time plays a crucial role in this disease's treatment but the only affordable option of taking her through an ambulance by road, could have cost me her life as it would take 3 days for her to reach the hospital. So we had to airlift her with oxygen support urgently and that took off my entire life savings of 10 lakhs in a go. I did everything in my power to get her treatment started early but after reaching here I found out that we need 28 lakhs more for her Bone Marrow Transplant."- Abhishek, father

Only a Transplant can stabilize this rare disease and save her

A Bone Marrow Transplant will help to stabilize her disease by replacing her weak immune system with a healthy one. This will tremendously increase her survival chances but this Transplant comes with its own huge expenses. She would be susceptible to complications and would need prolonged hospitalization as well post her Transplant. All this will cost her parents around INR 28 lakhs, something which their limited savings could never account for.

"The more we delay this Transplant, the higher the risk of infections attacking her body. She tested positive for COVID and that has put unsurmountable pressure on her lungs. We don't know what would be next but just the thought of helplessly watching our only baby suffer is killing us too."- Priya, mother

Despite the complications, Baby of Priya is determined to fight for her life but all she needs is a chance to keep doing that. This is only possible with your generous contributions towards her Transplant
