    This fundraiser will benefit

    Baby of Jaya

    from Jaipur, Rajasthan

“We knew the baby would have complications when I was 6 months pregnant itself. So we saved up and were prepared for it but... but we never thought he would be this critical. 20 days and we haven’t even had a chance to hold him in our arms.” - Jaya, mother

Jaya's son suffers from a rare birth defect - Esophageal Atresia (EA) and a Tracheoesophageal Fistula (TEF) where the food pipe and the wide pipe are not connected properly. If left unoperated, it can cause serious heart trouble, kidney failure, and several other dysfunctions which can lead to even death.

Major operation within hours of birth

“He was taken to the operating room within a few hours of his birth. The operation went on for 6 hours at a stretch and all the while I was very terrified that I might lose him. He was just 2 kgs and this was a major operation. On the other hand, my wife couldn’t stop crying. She had a cesarean and she was unable to move. By the grace of God, the surgery went well but…” - Hemant, father

But the battle is not over yet. The baby was immediately shifted to the ICU for recovery but it’s been over two weeks now and he stills needs time to recover.

'I stack books for a living, how will I afford lakhs of rupees?'

“I work in a small library. I stack books there and whatever little I got, it was enough to run the house. When I knew the baby would require an operation and it would cost in lakhs, I didn’t give up and got prepared for it. I took a loan and saved as much as I could but now... everything is gone now. My baby still needs to recover and I am unable to afford the cost any further.” - Hemant

The baby needs prolonged ventilator and ICU support and it would cost around 10 lakh rupees. Hemant is already under a huge debt with no income at present and is helpless. Without the post-operation care, the baby won’t be able to make it.

The baby is also born with a club hand and undeveloped thumb which would further require surgeries to correct them. But that isn't the parent's concern at the moment. They just want to save their son, their only child.

“We thought we would never have kids. We tried for six years for a child and this miracle was born but now we are failing to protect him. Please help us,” - Jaya
