    This fundraiser will benefit

    Ayan Das

    from Medinipur, West Bengal

2 weeks ago, Debabrata and Saraswati rushed their 1-year-old baby boy, Ayan, to a local hospital as his recurrent high fever, cough, and cold refused to go away. The situation escalated so much that they were asked to take him to a bigger hospital in the city where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. His health deteriorated quickly and he was admitted to the ICU on a ventilator.

He needs PICU to survive

“For the past one year, my child hardly fell ill. His growth was phenomenal and we were hoping to see him hold on to things and walk soon but everything changed in a matter of few days. That day when we were rushing him to the city hospital, we saw him in a state that we’ll never forget. His eyes were wide open, his body was burning and he started gasping for breath.  I have never been this terrified before, I just...I don’t want to lose him.” - Saraswati, mother

Ayan needs continued PICU and ventilation support to recover for at least the next 4 weeks. But the cost is way beyond these parents' means.

I am at a dead end and I don’t know what to do to save my son’s life

Debabrata sells fish and does odd daily wage work for a living. His income is just enough for him to put food on the table and in such a financial condition, it is impossible for him to be able to afford his child’s treatment that will cost him in lakhs.

The first thought that I had was that, whatever it may cost me, I need to and I will save my son but lakhs of rupees? I can never arrange that much money even if I labour day and night… I borrowed from my friends and family to keep his treatment going but all that money is exhausted too. I am at a dead end and I don’t know what to do to save my son’s life.”- Debabrata

They desperately need your help

The hospital is 5 hours away from their hometown and they have no place to stay, neither can they afford a place to rent. So they travel regularly to reach the hospital and when they have to stay overnight, they spend the night in the hospital lobby itself. All this trouble and they rarely see their son.

“We know that we can’t meet him much but we travel anyways hoping to see him for at least a few minutes. We just want to take him home but the inability to afford the treatment that can cure him is just unbearable. My daughter, who is also just 7, often asks me where his baby brother is and I try my best to hide my tears. I tell her that he is recovering and will be back soon and I don’t want it to be a lie.” -Saraswati

The parents are devastated watching their son struggle to survive. They feel helpless, the inability of not being able to arrange the funds is killing them. Rs 10 lakhs can save this 1-year-old and keep the hope of these parents alive. Few more weeks in the ICU and Ayan will smile and play again.
