“He looks at me with scared eyes whenever the nurse enters the room. He is scared of the injections and the pain it causes him. I can’t explain how much it hurts me, this inability to do anything, the helplessness...I wish I could stop it all but it is the only way to keep him alive, cancer is killing him.” - Ashwini, mother
Their joy turned into a nightmare
Ashwini and Rajashekhar were very excited when they had Abhinav, he was their first child and the joy of becoming parents for the first time was beyond compare. Abhinav became their world. But last month, while Ashwini was bathing Abhinav when she noticed small boils under his ears. Fearing it to be some kind of allergic reaction she took him to the hospital. The little boy underwent some tests and the results left his mother devastated.“They said that my little boy has cancer, a disease that can leave even the strongest of adults weak is now threatening to take my child’s life. Why him? He is just a baby!” - Ashwini, mother
The entire treatment will cost us in lakhs and I am left with nothing
9-months-old Abhinav suffers from Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a severe type of blood cancer. AML progresses rapidly and is typically fatal within weeks or months if left untreated. He needs continued chemotherapy to survive.“With the help of my family, friends and my savings I managed to get my child chemotherapy so far but it is not enough. The entire treatment will cost us in lakhs and I am left with nothing. How will I ever afford it? How will I save my son?” - Rajashekhar, father
