Until 2015 October I felt invincible physically and then a bike fall exposed my vulnerability leaving me on the bed for almost a month. Since then I've been experiencing bouts of back, neck & shoulder pain. I have 2 disc bulges in the neck & lower back each. An incidental finding on a MRI showed a non-symptomatic/effective Syrinx - hope it remains non effective all my life.

Over last three years I've had three MRIs costing close to Rs. 35,000, seen and met spine doctors, physios, yoga teachers, alternative therapists etc. who all have helped me in a certain way to help me deal with the pain and keep me running. It was pretty stressful. I quit my job last year for being unable to sit for longer hours but I was glad I was still able to run and now I'm a Running Coach .. the silver lining of the Back Pain.

However, the financial stress was a lot more seeing doctors, spending on physios and therapists given that I was out of job and was salary less for three months. I can only imagine the plight of the economically struggling people who not only have back pain but many other spinal disorders & diseases leaving them immobile due to access to lack of treatment mostly owing to financial constraint.

Here is my small way to ease their stress by raising funds for the Giving Back Program ; an initiative by Sita Bhateja Super Speciality Hospital who are pioneers in treating people with Spinal & Brain Disorders under the leadership of Dr. Arvind Bhateja who has conducted 120 surgeries under this program.
