Yesterday, after a meeting in Thane, I booked an Uber cab. Once inside the cab, I could sense a dissatisfaction/disgruntlement in the driver's body language. I encouraged him to talk. He is Rajeshwar, a 63 year old man, father of two sons n one daughter. His eldest son is wasting his life sitting at home. Younger son is yet to finish his studies and daughter got married. This man has been driving since 1975!!! He is still the sole bread winner of the family. 

I asked him what is his deepest wish. He said in a choked voice, "Mere bachho ko khush dekhna chahta hu" I waited till he was composed and asked "Apki apni tho koi ichha tho hogi na" He said, "Beta khud ki gadi hoti tho driver rakhta aur mujhe roz chalanana padta. Bas dedh lakh kam pad gaye. Teen char saal aur khich lunga yu chalakar kyuki zindagi me na cigarette, daru ka taste bhi nahi liya. Lekin jab hath per nahi chalenge tab kya hoga? Khud ki gadi hoti tho kuch tho hota...." 

Shall we all come together to help collect the one and half lakh rupees that he is short of and help him in buying a cab? This will ease his pressure of driving 14 to 18 hours at a stretch. Even a simple contribution of a 500 rupees will make a difference if at least 300 people come forward to contribute.
