Ektha is a producer company which was set up in 2014 to encourage the work done by women artisans. The company mainly focuses on garment manufacturing, with Mother Earth being one of its major clients. Currently, Ektha has been able to employ 100 artisans. Its aim is to increase the incomes of women by leveraging their artisanal skills and integrating them into the creative industries sector. Ektha believes that if poor rural women have access to sustained and consistent demand for the products and services they provide with an enabling ecosystem, they can integrate into the formal economy and lift themselves out of poverty. Milaap partners with Ektha to provide working capital loans to these women artisans, giving them an opportunity for a steady source of income and uplifting themselves.
