In the heart of Delhi, amidst the bustling streets and towering buildings, lies an often-overlooked reality—the homeless and abandoned, vulnerable to the unforgiving chill of winter. As the temperatures plummet, countless individuals find themselves without shelter, lying on the cold, hard roads, facing the harsh elements with no blankets or warm clothes to shield them from the biting cold.
"Many become sick, many do not survive for more than a few days in the biting cold. The sight of small children freezing and shaking without as much as a piece of cloth on their backs is a truly painful sight." - Dr. Varun Khullar, founder of Chhoti Chhoti Khushiyan, a Delhi-based NGO started in 2016.
The birth of small joys
The Chhoti Chhoti Khushiyan Charitable Trust had humble beginnings, rooted in a desire to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children."In 2015, on a routine visit to an orphanage, I tried to spend more time with the children and understand their wishes and aspirations in life. Recollecting all the birthday cakes that I cut and stacks of presents received, I could only imagine what their joy would be to have theirs celebrated at least once. Thus was born the idea of setting up 'Chhoti Chhoti Khushiyan,' meaning joys from the trivial things." - Dr Varun Khullar, Founder.
The Foundation's vision and mission were clear — to be an effective, approachable, and sustainable children’s charity committed to improving the lives of the underprivileged. Dr. Varun Khullar shared, "We focused all our energy on helping the orphans. With assistance from my family and the support of my friends, we were able to make a better use of our resources. Over time, the foundation even started requesting people to donate their old clothes and accessories to provide for orphan children.”

Every chilly winter evening in Delhi, and the air now carries whispers of hope and warmth. The Chhoti Chhoti Khushiyan Foundation, with its founder, Dr. Varun Khullar, at the helm, is gearing up to make their annual winter campaign a success. For three consecutive years, they had embarked on a mission to provide solace to the poor and homeless during the harsh winter months in Delhi NCR. Now, they have a bigger goal in mind - something they cannot achieve on their own, without your support."We want to give blankets to over one lakh poor and homeless individuals. Each blanket costs around INR 200, and we need INR 20,00,000 to complete our task. We don't require much from everyone, but some, at least one blanket. Even a contribution of Rs 200 is one more blanket for a poor person."- Dr. Varun Khullar.
