For 12 years, I endured horrific abuse in my marriage. My husband beat me, controlled every aspect of my life, and even forced himself on me. When I turned to my parents for help, they abandoned me, leaving me completely alone. At my lowest, I tried to end my life, feeling there was no escape from the pain.
Then, I met an elderly woman whose story changed my life. She had been abused and raped by her own son, who then discarded her on the streets. She survived by eating rotten food she found in the trash. That moment sparked a purpose in me—to create a haven for people like her, a place where no one would feel abandoned again.
Today, I run Swaminiwas Old Age Home, where 85 elderly residents call me their daughter. Many are bedridden and unable to care for themselves, and I am their last hope. Alongside them, I also shelter women who have survived unimaginable abuse, offering them safety and a fresh start.
The challenges are overwhelming. I struggle to pay rent, electricity bills, and even buy basic groceries for my residents. There are 500 more people who desperately need my help, but I lack the space and funds to support them. Despite this, I am determined to continue this mission.
With your support, I can give these seniors and survivors the dignity and care they deserve. Your contribution will help provide food, shelter, and medical care to those who have nowhere else to turn. Together, we can ensure no one is forgotten.
