He Cannot Recognise His Wife and Newborn Son After Tragic Accident Left Him With Severe Brain Injuries

"Life has turned upside down for us. Just when we thought we had everything, this tragedy struck. Nothing can prepare you for something like this. This was supposed to be the best period of our lives…we were eagerly awaiting the birth of our child and our wedding anniversary was approaching too.” - Arti, wife, tearfully

On the fateful evening of 2nd May, around 1:30 PM, Sanjay was returning home from his job as a cook at a Gurgaon restaurant. He was riding his bike, eagerly waiting to get back home to his pregnant wife. A sudden collision with a car turned his world into a nightmare. The accident left Sanjay with multiple injuries, including a severe head injury that caused brain swelling. Sanjay has been in a coma since, his eyes open but unresponsive.

‘We are worried he will never recognise his loved ones again’

Arti, just days after giving birth, is left struggling with the fear of losing her husband. She has no one else to help her in this difficult time as her father-in-law had passed away due to Covid, and her mother-in-law, though weak, stands by her side, trying to be strong for her daughter and grandson

"I am scared every moment. How will I raise my son alone if anything happens to Sanjay? We had so many dreams together. He lies there, right in front of me, unaware that he has become a father. I try to show him pictures, hoping it will trigger his memory. But nothing seems to work.”- Arti

‘He needs continued treatment to have a chance at survival’

Sanjay now needs extensive treatment, including a major surgery followed by other life-saving procedures, and requires a Home ICU setup costing ₹2,000 per day. The family has spent all their savings on Arti's delivery and Sanjay's initial treatment. They have already spent ₹30 lakhs, donated by well-wishers. Sanjay was the only breadwinner, earning a modest ₹18,000-₹20,000 per month, with ₹5,000 going towards their rent in Mahipalpur, Delhi. Now, the family is struggling without a source of income.

"We have given everything we had. Now, we are left with nothing to save him. I just want him to see his son's face, to hold him once. Is that too much to ask for?"- Arti
