Urgent: Both his kidneys are damaged and need an immediate transplant before something bad happens
In 2015, when Mohammad Uzaif was around 12 years of age, his face abruptly swelled and he was having a hard time breathing. His parents immediately took him to the nearby hospital. But unable to detect the issue, the family eventually reached out to a better hospital where he was diagnosed with kidney failure.
“The doctor says that both my kidneys are damaged. I have been suffering with these barely functioning kidneys for most of my childhood, now marking nearly 8 years… It breaks me every time I see my parents take on another burden just to help me survive… I hoped that one day I would help our family overcome poverty, but everything has come to such a devastating point as I see how the burden of my health has left my parents grappling with these scarce resources.” - Mohd. He can't even walk for long with his weakening body and now he is losing his life to this
Uzaif was barely 12 years old when he was struck with grievous kidney damage. With his deteriorating health, Uzaif had to leave his education. Now, at 20 years, both of his kidneys have been severely damaged, and the doctor has concluded that the only option left for his survival is a kidney transplant. The cost, along with the hospital care and plasma exchange, is estimated at around INR 16 Lakh.
“I have seen my young son go through dialysis every other day, the way his body never allowed him to have healthy growth like other boys his age. My boy has lost his chance at a normal childhood with this disease, he can't even walk for long with his weakening body and now he is losing his life to this. I have been tested as a suitable donor but the cost of the surgery is so much… life is even more cruel to poor ones like us.” - Sajiya Begum, mother, tearfully
With no source of income, his family had been exhausted on all fronts
Jeeshan Ahmed used to work as a carpenter to support a family of four, a younger school-aged daughter who dreams of supporting her struggling brother, his wife Sajiya Begum, and their ailing son Uzaif. The family lives in a rented house, sometimes skipping meals to afford the older son's dialysis.
“We have spent all our savings, sold all the jewelry we had and even incurred debts to support our son all through these years but now we are exhausted from all fronts. I'm so scared for Uzaif, he is such a sweet boy who dreams of studying again, he dreams of supporting us but this life is proving so hard for him. Please help us, please help him.” - Jeeshan Ahmed
Despite his deteriorating health, Uzaif loves to learn new facts and study scientific experiments, he wants to resume his education and support his family through thick and thin. He needs your help to live again.
