Gopal had heard from some of his relatives, that his wife had passed a few years back due to aplastic anemia, a dangerous blood disease. He even feels she left because she knew she was dying and they didn’t have the money for her treatment. Gopal regrets not being there for his wife during her last days, but now, Kishalay has been diagnosed with the same disease. If Gopal can’t afford his treatment, he can lose his son too.

Kishalay was a very active child before this disease. But of late he would come back from school and complain of breathlessness. Sometimes when he used to get cuts while playing, even a simple wound would bleed a lot. His father got worried when he started to have frequent nose bleeds. Last month, they found out that all these were symptoms of the blood disease. Kishalay needs blood transfusions to survive, but his father can’t afford it.

Gopal works as a daily wage labourer and earns Rs.250-300. Now he has to take Kishalay to hospital regularly, so he has been losing even the daily wage that he used to earn.
“My brother has been supporting us and I can never ever repay him for what he has done for us. Even the 1.5 lakhs that I could manage for Kishalay’s treatment was from his savings. But now even he has a family of 3 to feed, how much more can he do for me? Even he is helpless. My Bhabhi (sister-in-law) has treated Kishalay like her own son ever since my wife left us. Kishalay needs blood transfusions to survive. He is only 12 years old and has his whole life ahead of him. His father just desperately wants to save his son, despite all his hardship. Even a little contribution from our side can save Kishalay’s life.
