Aggressive Cancer Will Spread Rapidly And Prove Deadly For 2-Year-Old, He Won't Survive Without Transplant

“When he smiles despite the multiple medical procedures he has gone through already, I don’t know what to feel. His body is weak, but he still manages to be so positive. I know he can beat his cancer, because he is at that age where he doesn’t even understand what is happening to him and cannot process that information. But as his mother, I am haunted by thoughts of losing him...” - Sunita Mary, mother, tearfully.

At 2 years of age, when he should have been surrounded by the love and warmth of family, little Jeeson finds himself surrounded by needles and medicines. His life is now a series of tests and medical procedures…one after the other taking a huge toll on his body and mind.

Jeeson has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancerous tumour that formed in his adrenal glands, near the right kidney. It is an aggressive form of cancer which occurs in the nerve tissue and can spread fast to other areas of the body. This can turn deadly for the child, and a bone marrow transplant is the only way to prevent that from happening.

It was a painful journey from fever to cancer

In May this year, Jeeson started getting recurrent fevers. He had been so sick that he had to be taken to the hospital every other day. His weight had reduced drastically and after undergoing tests, it was also seen that his blood count was unusually low. But it was much later that his cancer diagnosis came to light, when his stomach had swollen up, along with his eyes and head.

“We were shocked to learn that cancer was causing all the swelling. We begged and borrowed and immediately started him on chemo. He had surgery to remove the cancerous tumour near his kidney recently too. But the cancer still persists in his body… waiting to take him away from us.” - Sunita Mary

‘I work in a Xerox shop; how will I arrange lakhs of rupees for the transplant?’

Jeeson’s father, Pradeep Kumar, is the only breadwinner of their family. He works in a Xerox shop, for a monthly salary of INR 18,000 per month. But this often does not suffice to meet the basic needs of his children. They do not have a house of their own and live in a rented room.

Now, with Jeeson’s hospital expenses, Pradeep has become financially drained. He does not have the means to afford his son’s treatment and is asking for your help to save his son.

“My child does not deserve this suffering. No child does. Jeeson has been through a lot. He is a fighter, and we are certain he will come out winning this battle against cancer. But I do not have the means to treat him – if you could help us in any way, we would be grateful.” - Pradeep Kumar, father.
