- Premchand, the father
8-month-old Divyanshu is suffering from severe heart disease, Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC), a defect in the veins leading from the lungs to the heart.
In TAPVC, the blood does not take the normal route from the lungs to the heart and out to the body. Instead, the veins from the lungs attach to the heart in abnormal positions and this problem means that oxygenated blood enters or leaks into the wrong chamber.
If not treated, this disease can take away this little boy’s life. With each passing day, his condition is getting more and more critical. He needs heart surgery at the earliest.
They went from city to city looking for help
"He was 2 months old when we first got to know that his heart might fail anytime. I wasn’t ready to believe it but every other report said his condition was critical. I went from city to city but no one was ready or equipped to do his operation. Now after 6 months...after spending every penny I had, I have finally found hope but funds? The treatment is costing us so much... I cannot afford it.”- Premchand, father
How can I afford a heart surgery with six thousand rupeesPremchand works as an operator in a small company in Orissa, his income is not even enough to afford the basic tests needed for Divyanshu.
“Sometimes his heart starts pounding so fast, it scares me that it might stop any moment . I don’t have anything to sell neither is anyone giving me loan. How will I save my son like this. I can’t watch him like this... I feel like I am failing as a father.”
Divyanshu will need a heart surgery to survive and lead a healthy life. But this father cannot afford 4 lakh rupees. Your small contribution can save this little baby and give him a chance to have a normal life.
