They Tortured Me When I Was Pregnant With My 1st, And In My | Milaap

They Tortured Me When I Was Pregnant With My 1st, And In My 2nd Pregnancy, I Had To Bury My Baby On My Own.

"My husband and his family never accepted my daughter. From the moment she was born, they made it clear that they didn’t want a girl. But when we discovered that she had cancer, they abandoned us completely. They told me, 'We don’t want this child.' I was left alone to fend for myself, and that’s when the real nightmare began. My in-laws began abusing me—sometimes hitting me with slippers, other times with sticks. It got so bad that I lost all hope and even tried to end my life. I thought that was my only escape. But my brother found out and took me back to his home, saving my life." - Vidyashree

When my daughter first complained of pain in her eye, I never thought it would be something as terrifying as cancer. We went to a hospital in Vijayapura, and the doctor suggested we go to Bangalore for further tests. After the scans, I was told that my 4-year-old daughter had eye cancer. I was devastated. All I could think was, "Why my child?" The cost of her treatment is so high that my brother and I are struggling to keep up. We’re fighting every day just to keep her alive, but we have no money left.

‘May no woman face the horrors I have faced’

I’ve been partially handicapped since childhood because I lost the vision in one of my eyes. When my daughter’s eye started troubling her in July, I thought she had the same problem as me. But when it turned out to be cancer, my world shattered. Instead of standing by us, my husband and his family left us to suffer. Every day they abused me. They beat me with canes, pipes, and even footwear. There were days when I thought I wouldn't survive.

They tortured me when I was pregnant with my 1st and in my 2nd Pregnancy I had to bury my baby on my own

“When I was pregnant with my first child, their torture was so unbearable that I had to go back to my parents’ house. Later, my husband came and took me back, but nothing changed. When I got pregnant again, I was terrified. I hid my pregnancy for five months, fearing they would force me to abort. But they found out. My husband and in-laws cornered me and made me take pills to abort the baby. The baby came out when I was using the bathroom, and I begged them to perform proper rituals and give the child a burial. They ignored me. I had to bury my baby on my own. Afterward, they beat me with a cane, pipe, and footwear.- Vidyashree

We don’t have savings or property, just sheer will to save my little child

My brother Santosh works a private job and can barely support his own family. But he’s been helping me and my daughter, doing everything he can. He’s managed to take her to Bangalore for treatment, and he even paid for two chemotherapy sessions. But now, we’ve run out of money. We’re doing everything we can, but without help, I fear I won’t be able to save my child.

Please help us

"Watching her suffer and knowing we can’t afford the treatment is the worst kind of pain. My brother and I are holding onto hope, believing that kind people will step in to help us. We just want to save this little angel."
