Ramkrishna and Chandrani Mondal have not slept at all for the past one month. When they close their eyes, they see their 13-year-old child being taken away from them. When they open their eyes, they see her covered in tubes in the ICU, unable to move or talk. They are living every parents’ worst nightmare.
A mild fever has now turned into a multi-organ infection, with her heart suffering the mostAround a month ago, the child was suffering from a mild fever. She ignored it for a while, but it began weakening her. The regular medicines did not work so she was taken to a hospital where her condition worsened further, unconscious and her system started spiralling out of control.

An artificial heart and lungs are connected as ECMO to sustain her life for some days, while doctors try to correct her real heart and other organs in the meantime."- Ramkrishna Mondal

Ramkrishna Mondal is an ordinary farmer who earns only around Rs 5,000 every month. He had been trying to meet the growing demands of his family, which includes his wife, two children and elderly sick parents with this meagre income, but it was not working out. That is when he decided to try for a job abroad, taking loans of up to 2.5 lakhs for a blue collar job that could turn his and his family’s life around. But unfortunately, he was defrauded and lost all the money. Now, he has nothing left to save his daughter.“With the help of kind family and friends, I was able to pay around 5 lakhs for her treatment until now. But we need at least six times this amount to continue her treatment. Her life is at stake. Without extended ICU stay, she will not be able to survive for more than a few hours.”- Ramkrishna, tearfully.
