We Already Lost Our Older Boy To The Same Disease, We Can't Lose Him Too!

My name is Ippili Simhachalam. I am a teacher, a husband, and a father. But above all, I am a man who has been tested by fate in ways I never imagined.

When my oldest son died, it felt like my soul had been ripped apart as I held his lifeless body in my arms. I had failed him and my failure haunts me every day. Now I could lose my younger son too.

My wife, Lakshmi, and I had two sons. Our eldest was born in 2011. We were overjoyed, dreaming of the bright future that lay ahead for him. But when he was just a year old, we noticed he wasn’t growing as he should. Tests revealed he had Thalassemia Major, a severe blood disorder that changed our lives forever.

We fought hard for him. Every month, we took him for blood transfusions. I borrowed money and spent everything I had, even traveling to Delhi for advanced treatment. But the disease was relentless, and in 2018, we lost him.

When Lakshmi became pregnant with our second child, we were terrified

We got every test done to ensure he was healthy. The doctors assured us that he was fine. For a brief moment, we believed things would turn out differently. But that hope shattered after his birth when tests revealed he too had Thalassemia Major. I cannot describe the anguish we felt, knowing our second son would face the same pain that our first went through.

Today, despite his condition, my son tries to enjoy life

He loves going to school, playing with friends, and studying. He dreams of becoming an IPS officer, and every time he talks about it, my heart fills with pride. But the truth is, we are running out of time and resources to save him. He needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible, which costs more than ₹30 lakh. This amount is far beyond our reach.

I work as a contract teacher, earning about ₹15,000 a month. My wife takes care of everything at home while doing tailoring jobs to contribute what little she can. We’ve already sold our house, our gold, and everything else we owned. We live in a rented house now, paying ₹4,500 a month. We’ve taken loans but it’s still not enough.

We need you to help us give him the life he deserves, please

Every three weeks, he needs blood transfusions. Each visit to the hospital feels like a battle, not just against his illness but against the despair that threatens to consume us. What keeps us going is his determination. He is so kind-hearted—always thinking of others before himself. He dreams of serving this country, of wearing the uniform of an IPS officer. I couldn’t fulfill my dream of becoming a civil servant, but I want to see my son achieve his.

We’ve lost one child to this cruel disease. I cannot bear to lose another. I am begging you to help us save him.
