Bhargav has a strong will and that is what has kept him alive so long but now he needs a transplant to survive.
13 pills a day for 10 years
Since the day Bhargav was born, his parents have protected him like a petal. He was given 13 pills a day and innumerable tonics and supplements to keep his infections at bay. For 10 long years, they battled bravely but eventually the day came when his kidneys started to fail.
“Despite everything that he was going through, he was a happy child, he went to school, played outside and took his medicine like a good boy. He just completed his 5th standard and… now he has to have dialysis 4 times a week. He is so small that it is sucking out all of his energy.” -Sameer
All this while he couldn’t understand but now he does...
Till now Bhargav was too young to understand but since the last year, he has been admitted 8-9 times in the hospital and with these regular dialysis, he is beginning to understand that something is wrong with his kidneys.
“He keeps asking questions and sometimes I don’t know what to say. But he is so much more responsible. He takes care of all the restrictions on his food and asks for his medicines when it is time. We could never have a stable job but that was the least of our concerns
Sameer had a decent paying job in an organisation but for Bhargav’s constant needs, Sameer took up odd jobs where there was flexibility of work. For 10 years, Sameer put in all he had, his savings, his wife's jewellery and his income and Poonam constantly looked after every small need to protect their son.
“I left my job and my husband could never have a stable job but that was the least of my concerns, all we wanted was to save our child but now we are failing," - Poonam
