Parents Who Have Already Lost Two Of Their Children Are Left Terrified Now!

Our life together has been filled with a series of mishaps. We are poor and cannot afford most things – but that is not what saddened us the most. We never cared for material things and possessions of any kind ever; we just wanted children. We have only ever wanted to nurture and raise our own blood, provide for them and rejoice in their growth. But we were denied this simple joy for a long time, until now. Now we finally have the chance to make our dream come true, but money stands as a barrier.” - Erraya, father

Erraya and his wife Hemalatha have been married for 20 years now. A baby boy was born to them in 2006, but he passed shortly after due to an unidentified sickness. A baby girl was born to the couple a few years later, in 2010, but she faced the same fate as her sibling. This poor couple had almost given up on their dream of becoming parents when they conceived recently. The pregnancy was going well, but as fate would have it, Hemalatha had to deliver her twins – a boy and a girl - prematurely in her seventh month. Now, they are struggling to survive in the NICU, while these parents are scrambling to arrange funds to save them.

‘My stitches have not healed and I cannot walk…but I care only about my children’

Hemalatha is in a lot of physical pain as her C-section stitches have not healed properly. She cannot walk properly or move about comfortably as a result. However, this does not bother her as much as the thought of losing her two children. Her body has undergone a lot of trauma over the years – birth control reversal, IVF injections and multiple procedures – and she had endured it all for the sale of being a mother. Now that she has become a mother, she worries it will be short-lived.

“My children are very delicate. They both weigh less than a kilogram, they cannot breathe on their own and basically cannot live a life outside the glass box (incubator) now. I cannot bear to see them covered in tubes and wires; I want to take them home as soon as possible but doctors are saying that they will need to be in hospital for a while. I am losing hope every day.” - Hemalatha

They are already reeling under debt, cannot afford their treatment

Over the years, their intense desire to become parents had made this couple borrow heavily from moneylenders to fund their fertility treatments. Erraya, a daily wager, had tried to pay off debts and was managing everything well until Hemalatha’s emergency delivery. He had to borrow even more money as a result – and was shocked to learn that his babies’ NICU treatment would cost ten times more. Erraya is already sinking in debt and cannot afford the prolonged NICU stay that his children desperately need to stay alive.

“We have been faced by obstacle after obstacle. Nothing is going right in our lives. But when my wife and I look at the innocent faces of our babies – we are filled with a certain hope. We believe that we are meant to be united with our babies at any cost. But financially, we are incapable of saving them. Please help us.” – Erraya
