Help The People Of Assam Heal From The Devastating Floods

Torrential rains have flooded Assam, with eight rivers flowing above the danger level, inundating densely populated regions and affecting humans, cattle, and crops alike. This year as well, the floods have turned the world upside down for the people of Assam, with more than a quarter of the state completely submerged, disrupting and altering the lives of the communities.

The monsoons have caused devastating floods and landslides, resulting in death, injury, and home destruction. The deluge has affected more than 5.5 million people, including 1.25 million in Barpeta alone, followed by Dhubri (594,708), Darrang (547,421), Nagaon (457,381), and Kamrup (400,214) - making them the five worst-affected districts.

The flood situation in Assam's Kamrup district deteriorated after flood waters entered new areas, affecting more than 70,000 people. The yearly floods have added to the misery of the already suffering families. The geographical setting of the region, the high intensity of rainfall of the South West Monsoon, and the easily erodible geographical formation have aggravated floods in Assam.
