During our Awareness Camps about Menstrual Hygiene Management & Disposal of Sanitary Napkins, it was found that the women and girls in the rural areas are unable to use Sanitary Napkins due to unavailability and high cost.

After conversation, it was found that they are willing to work to get income which they can use on their family health and hygiene.

We are planning on setting up a Sanitary Napkin manufacturing unit in Sukrawali, a village about 10 km from Aligarh, and are fundraising for that. A rough estimate of funds utilization:
3,20,000- for purchasing machines for creating napkins
40,000 per month- running expenses. We are fundraising for the first 3 months until we can get the unit up and running.

4 women from Sukhrawali will be working at this unit, and will get paid on a per day basis. This Unit at their doorstep could provide them employment as well as cost effective Sanitary Napkins without affecting their daily household work.

Ms. Rashmi Singh, Trustee of The Banyan Tree Ashok-Shyama Charitable Trust, Aligarh is running an Awareness Campaign on "Menstrual Hygiene Management and Disposal of Sanitary Napkins" in Aligarh. She goes schools to schools to give sessions to Adolescent Girls (6 - 12 Class) who are Menstruating or about to have Menarche.
To make it more knowledgeable and reachable to all girls and women. She wrote a book named "WISH YOU HAPPY PERIODS" which is a story book covering each aspect about Menstruation.
