I've started this campaign for my friend, Elsa Ranson. I know Elsa to be an extremely selfless, self-sufficient human being who goes out of her way to help people and animals. Her disability has never stopped her from doing things for others in a world where most people don't think beyond themselves.
Elsa's an orphan. She lost her parents when she was 8. She had a Polio attack when she was young and is partially paralyzed. She cannot walk. Elsa uses a wheelchair and commutes by a specially-designed two-wheeler. Elsa is now 30 years old. She runs a small Xerox shop in Chengalpet to sustain herself. Elsa loves animals! She once helped me search for an abandoned dog on the outskirts of Chennai even though she did not know me personally. She rode her bike around in scorching weather for several days, distributing pamphlets and looking for the dog. She makes efforts to help homeless dogs by transporting them to Chennai for vaccination and sterilization.
Elsa has not been keeping well lately. She needs to undergo treatment at St.John's College Hospital, Bangalore. Her treatment will cost Rs.2 Lakhs. Doctors say Elsa needs to get a special wheelchair that will help straighten her spine. Because of her being ill, Elsa has not been able to work lately and desperately needs to raise funds to get treated and improve her health.
Please donate for Elsa. Any small contribution will make a huge difference to her. Elsa medical reports and the quotation for her wheelchair are attached.
Here's what Elsa has to say about herself and her present situation:
"Hi, my name is Elsa and I am raising funds for my treatment. I am currently unemployed due to my condition which has made it difficult for me to arrange funds for my treatment.
I have been fighting. I have a problem in my spine so the doctor asked me to buy a special wheelchair that will help my spine to get straight and also save my lungs. I had a Polio attack and I lost my parents when I was 8. I am now 30 years old. I have a problem with my bones so please help me live a happy and healthy life. I am currently undergoing treatment at St. John's Medical College Hospital, Bangalore.
I have been suffering for more than a year and it has been a tough time for me and my family. Medications are my only hope at getting better and living a normal life. My treatment will cost approximately Rs. 2 Lakhs. I need a special wheelchair which will help my spine get straight.
My family is eagerly awaiting my recovery. Once I'm better, I will try to help others. Please help me. I want to live and help others.
I request you to kindly contribute towards my treatment and help during this time of need. Every small contribution will make a huge difference to me. Kindly also share my fundraiser with your family and friends and help me reach my goal amount and get my treatment! I am grateful for your help!"
